Ciao....

Staying fit on the road
Susan Weiner

By the time you read this posting I will have touched down on Italian soil, beginning my seven-day stay in Bologna, Italy. Why Bologna? Because I love food and Bologna is quite simply a food-lovers paradise: bolognese, prosciutto, mortadella and salame all hail from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, and I love them all.

You may now be wondering why I decided to visit a city known for its food when I've re-dedicated myself to losing weight. The truth is that I planned this trip in September 2007, well before I decided that I was going to lose weight! So I type this article with much trepidation. I've spent a good deal of time compiling a circuit I will be able to do in my hotel room with nothing more than my bodyweight.

My in-room circuit workout includes:

Prisoner squats

Stick-ups

Push-ups

Lunges

Jumping rope

Mountain climbers

Step-ups

Regarding my diet, I'm entering this trip with an "everything in moderation" mentality. Time will tell how successful I'll be. As we know, the scale never lies.

Train hard. Stay strong.

Peace.

Susan

I hope you have a great time. Now that you have embraced the beast of temptation, please enjoy some of his pleasures.

In a few hours we leave for Italy also! We head for Milan/Como/Venice/Florence/Rome for eleven days. I, too, wonder about the fantastic food temptations, but moderation should get me home in reasonable shape - especially with your in-room exercise suggestions. Thank you and enjoy!

Enjoy excerising and the great taste of Italian cuisine. Your in-room exercise circuit sounds like it'll off-set some of the extra caloric-intake if not all!!!!.
