Easy Natural Muesli
1 cup rolled rye flakes
½ cup crushed flax seeds
1 cup medium rolled oats (not instant)
1 cup rolled wheat flakes
¼ cup oat bran
1/3 cup sunflower seeds
1/3 cup raisins (or dried cranberries)
1/3 cup sliced unroasted almonds
1/3 cup chopped dried dates or apricots
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
Note: You can substitute dried papaya, figs or prunes for the dates and use any other nut instead of almond if you like.
Directions:
Combine all of the ingredients together and store in an airtight container in your refrigerator.
Hot Muesli: Mix ¾ cup of the muesli with ½ a cup of water or milk and bring to a boil, cooking for 4-5 minutes. You can also microwave it instead for 3 minutes.
Cold Muesli: This is so simple! Mix ½ a cup of muesli with 1 cup of yogurt or milk (or soy milk) and refrigerate overnight. In the morning you will have a soft, healthy porridge that's ready to eat!
