My toy poodle deserves nothing but the best. She is fed nothing less than grade-A meat, is carried in my arms during her "walks", has first dibs on the remote control, and...well, you get the picture. So why not take my craziness one step further and invest in a pet massage?
Before you roll your eyes, let me say I'm completely serious about the last part. Pet massages are totally in vogue these days, and I bet even the most closeted animal enthusiast will admit their intrigue. Yes, this means massage isn't just for humans anymore! Massages are designed to help you relax, relieve muscle tension, and help you to feel great. So why not pamper your furry best friend?
As with us people, pet massages are particularly helpful to maintain physical and emotional health. It's particularly beneficial for pets who are recovering from injury or surgery or suffer from joint pain. We humans are definitely too stressed out these days, but your pets can also experience their fair share of anxiety. If you're a pet owner, you know your little guy or gal can suffer from noise phobias, separation anxiety, and various temperament problems.
Since pet massage is quite similar to the techniques used on us humans, your pet can achieve the same results. It helps to increase circulation, improve range of motion, reduce inflammation, and even maintain the health of a shiny coat of fur. And if you think you're stressed out when you move to a new home, imagine how Fifi is feeling! Pets are particularly sensitive to their surroundings and if their environment is changed, they can get really confused. Massage helps to calm them down and enforce important socialization skills like human touch.
During a massage session, it will definitely take your pet a couple of minutes to figure out what is going on, but chances are s/he will leave feeling friskier and energized. So go ahead, give your pal the pampering they crave. I know a pet massage would make my poodle a happy, happy camper.
