I wish I lived in the jungle. Seriously! I can't get enough of the amazing feeling when I look at a lush green plant. It's no wonder I adore my plants. Studies show a simple houseplant can do wonders for your emotional health. There are scientists who say having a plant around can boost concentration, memory, and reduce stress.
Did you ever notice there are often lots of strategically placed plants in hospitals? This is no accident. They have been shown to hasten recovery rates, reduce blood pressure, and encourage general positive thoughts. A lot of plants are also known for their healing properties. Boston fern, chrysanthemum, and peace lily are particularly effective for helping to alleviate asthma and respiratory illnesses, and remove toxins from their air through their leaves.
One plant I always have on my desk is the dragon tree, because of its ability to absorb the dangerous toxins emitted from my computer and printer. Even those crazy spider plants I spent so much time trying to get rid of, I discovered, are known for their ability to clean the air of carbon monoxide. I had no idea!
Many say plants can also be essential elements for creating the proper Feng Shui in your home or office. A hanging or draping plant will help to reduce the sharpness of furniture in your house and soften the corners of walls. People, including myself, who own hanging plants report feeling much more relaxed because the gentle hanging leaves promote a sense of tranquility.
I still say anyone who says they can't grow a houseplant has simply never tried. I may have led more than a few African violets to their intimely death, but I asked questions, read a few articles and now my home is full of plants. As I spend a few minutes each day tending to them, I talk to them and enjoy their company. Don't fret, they don't usually talk back. But when I give them water and some sun, my plants do a wonderful job of making my house into a cozy home. They can do the same for you, too.
They told me so.

I never knew houseplants could do so much.

You may want to check with your local greenhouse to see what they offer, but plants like Boston Ferns, Philodendron and Chinese Evergreens are plants that can tolerate low level lighting quite well. We'd love to hear what you end up getting!
my house, but I got one problem,
my cat keeps on eating them.
before I throw my plants out of
