It doesn't get much better than this. Luxurious spa treatments that help you to relax, provided by organic products in an eco-friendly atmosphere? Yes, please! All of this and more can be found at GoGreen Organic Spa in downtown New York.
When I first heard about GoGreen Organic Spa, it sounded too good to be true. The spa opened in November of 2009 with the intention of providing organic services at affordable prices. It offers customized organic facials and massages, as well as "Relaxation Combinations" and "Rejuvenation Combinations" that include the "Bright Eyes" treatment.
After a 90 minute facial and a 90 minute massage, I definitely felt relaxed and rejuvenated when I left the spa. The facial included several citrus rubs that smelled amazing and felt even. I think my favorite part of the facial was the eye treatment designed by Jean Yee-Kung, co-owner of the spa. Natural agate and rock crystal massage sticks were rubbed on the skin to revitalize the skin. I have always tried to cover up the dark circles under my eyes as well as the laugh lines that surround them. I hoped the treatment would help with that, and it did. Several days later, my eyes still looked brighter.
Crystals are used for more than facial treatments at the spa. Yee-Kung uses her own collection of crystals to decorate the spa to enhance the flow of energy in the spa. The crystals are in each room as well as under the beds to help the clients' and therapists' energy. The air is refreshed and the energy is purified by Himalayan ionic salt crystal lamps.
I had never had a facial before, but I am definitely hooked on them now. My skin was absolutely glowing and I could hardly believe how smooth it felt. Several blemishes I had been trying to cover with makeup looked much smaller!
I was already on Cloud Nine when I finished with my facial and then I got to have my massage. Ninety minutes of pure bliss followed. I didn't think I could feel better than I already did, but it was possible! The masseuse was very informative and answered all of my questions about why certain areas of my body hurt. She also suggested what I could do to maintain the effects of the massage. She used organic apricot oil, which smelled wonderful, although I did notice a few people looking at me while I was on the subway later that day.
All of the products used at the spa are from the Eminence skin care line. They are strictly organic and have been voted the Favorite Skin Care Line by Spa Professionals. The Eminence products are made from organic herbs, vegetables and fruits that offer great nutritional benefits to help with the impact of stress on people's skin.
One of the most commonly mentioned reasons that people do not purchase organic skin products is the price, and I will admit I have used that same reason myself. When I mentioned this to the employees of the spa, they showed me just how much of the products I should use daily, and it was a very small amount. Just a swab of organic products could equal the same amount as a large handful of generic drug store products so a small container of organic products would last just as long as a large container of generic products. It's a convincing argument and I am going to give it a try the next time I need to stock up on skin care products. Eminence is also an environmentally friendly company committed green packaging and shipping.
GoGreen Organic Spa follows suit, using 100 percent wind energy and using vegetable ink to print promotional materials and business cards on 100 percent recycled paper. They also use filtered water, non-toxic cleansing products and some bamboo and organic cotton bed sheets and towels. And the spa participates in environmental events and charity functions and donates services and products to promote events to save our environments and to improve the community.
I had a wonderful afternoon at GoGreen Organic Spa and I hope to return for another set of treatments very soon!
